About me

Adelle Smener PT, DPT, CSCS

I’m an LA native through and through, so no surprise I stayed in sunny SoCal for grad school, earning my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from USC.

I've worked in the sports and orthopedic setting since 2017, treating recreational athletes of all ages, with a strong focus on knee injuries and complex, previously mis-managed cases. I have extensive experience working with ACL injuries, cartilage surgeries, meniscus injuries, and individuals dealing with persistent knee pain that never fully resolved.

When it comes to ACL rehab in particular, I’ve seen firsthand the gap between the care people receive and the care they actually need. Too often, rehab is rushed, generalized, or based on timelines instead of true readiness, leaving people underprepared and lacking confidence when returning to activity.

My approach prioritizes education, intention, and raising the standard for what rehab should look like. My goal isn’t just to get you through the process - it’s to help you come back stronger, more confident, and better equipped than before, with a clear understanding of your body and how to move forward.

Physical Therapy

Done Differently

Every session is personalized, rooted in evidence, and focused on helping you move forward with confidence - in the gym, in your sport, and in everyday life.

Personalized, Human-Centered Care

Every session is 1:1, starting with a 90-minute comprehensive evaluation where we take the time to truly understand you - your movement history, goals, lifestyle, and what brought you here.

Progress looks different when care is personalized. This isn’t just about getting out of pain - it’s about moving forward with confidence, clarity, and a plan that actually fits your life.

Data-Driven Testing & Assessment

Your plan of care is built on objective testing, not assumptions. We assess mobility, strength, and movement patterns using industry-leading tools like force plates and handheld dynamometry.

This allows us to establish clear baselines, track your progress over time, and make informed decisions every step of the way. You’ll have access to your results throughout the process—so you can see your progress, not just feel it.

Because in knee rehab, timelines don’t make decisions—data does

Movement-Focused Rehabilitation & Performance

Rehab at NYBPT goes beyond basic exercises. Using evidence-based movement strategies and strength & conditioning principles, we focus on restoring mobility, building foundational strength, and increasing movement tolerance. This is especially important for ACLers and recreational athletes dealing with chronic knee pain!

The goal? Helping you return to your activities, hobbies, and sports feeling capable, prepared, and confident.

Coaching, Guidance & Ongoing Support

Think of this as a partnership. You’ll receive a fully customized program with clear videos and explanations, plus access between sessions for check-ins and adjustments as needed.

Because real progress happens outside the clinic - and you don’t have to navigate that alone. I’m here to guide, support, and adapt the plan as your life and body change.
